ARCHITECTURE + GRAPHIC DESIGN
After selling my partnership in a successful architectural firm in Brighton, Michigan to open a bar and restaurant, I realized that, while the restaurant was successful and thriving, it did not provide me one thing integral to my sanity... DESIGN.
Therefore, in 2010 with the help of my wife, Lindsay, I opened Eight Ten Designs on the simple premise of helping other small businesses with their design needs. Since then, through numerous requests from clients, we have become extremely diverse. I have taught myself multiple design software platforms including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Muse, Edge Animate, and Dreamweaver. This, coupled with my existing CAD and three dimensional modeling experience has allowed Eight Ten to move from strictly architectural design into a wide range of design solutions: Logo Design, Website Design and Development, and Print Media to name a few.
Whether you are in need of architectural services, graphic design services, or web development services, Eight Ten Designs can help. We have over 20 years of experience in design and the talent to help you succeed with your design project.
Thank you very much for visiting,
You work the pedals, we'll steer the car...
Even with our extensive design experience, we have never completed a project alone. Every project is a collaboration with our client and your ideas and goals are the most important. It is with your assistance and guidance that our talents and expertise will be the most effective.
Draw, erase, and draw again...
Great design is a process. The first solution is not always the best and we love the challenge of reworking designs to make them better.
We educate, you decide...
There are always different answers to a design question and inevitably the final decision rests in the hands of the client. Therefore, we will present you with options to even the smallest detail of your design solution along with our recommended answer and an explanation of it.
Integrity is not optional...
We take our responsibility of working as your agent very seriously and our commitment to integrity is never compromised. It is our duty to put your needs, your goals, and your budget first and that duty drives every decision that we make on your design project from beginning to end.
As a licensed architect since 1998, Nick has designed an enormous variety of projects including, religious, educational, professional office, industrial, and hospitality. His passion and talent for design was apparent early in his career landing him the role of lead architect and designer for Prestwick Village Country Club at the age of 25. After a very successful career as a partner in a prestigious architectural firm, Nick decided a change was necessary and sold his portion of the company to start a restaurant/bar with his wife Lindsay. In this new role as restaurateur, Nick solidified his passion for hospitality design and through hands-on experience in all aspects of restaurant management, he now has an unparalleled understanding of proper hospitality design.
Throughout all of this, Nick's passion for design and technology has never faltered and has driven him to new areas of creativity. As a self-proclaimed "tech junkie", he has taught himself Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, |Adobe Muse, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe In Design, HTML coding, and Mac OSX. He has created numerous logos, websites, print advertising, menu designs, and smart phone applications and refuses to be satisfied with anything less than perfection.
Working her way through Alma College, Lindsay fell in love with the restaurant industry. She began work at a local restaurant/bar as a bartender and soon worked her way to management. During this management experience, she applied her talents in accounting and business planning to help tighten inventory controls, provide better staff training principles, and maximize the restaurant's profits.
Following graduation from Alma, Lindsay was recruited by a national accounting firm as a CPA where she audited massive accounts including Little Caesars and Detroit Edison. However, she never lost focus of her dream of owning and operating her own restaurant. In 2007, despite the economic downturn, Lindsay solidified financing utilizing her exceptional business plan and opened Downtown Main Martini Bar & Grille. Since then, her operational experience and rigorous controls have allowed Downtown Main to become nearly debt free while winning numerous prestigious awards including Best Martini Bar in Metro Detroit, Best Tapas Restaurant in Metro Detroit, and Best Trendy Bar in Metro Detroit.
